【解説】
この作品は雲仙市⽴⼩浜中学校吹奏楽部委嘱作品として、2022年に作曲されました。不知火（しらぬい）とは九州の有明海や八代海などで、夜の海に無数の光が見られる現象です。さらに、九州に伝わる怪火（かいか）と呼ばれる原因不明の火が現れる怪異現象として、妖怪の一種であるともされています。長崎にはとても美しい海と光景があります。海に漂う神秘的な光を思い浮かべ、自然の美しさや厳しさをイメージしながら筆を進めていきました。初演時の編成として、木管楽器と金管楽器の対話や明確な役割を持たせて、より動きのある音楽を目指しました。
※本作は吹奏楽版として再構成し、編成の拡大と新たな小節・要素の追加を行った改訂新版です。

This piece was commissioned by the Obama Junior High School Wind Band in Unzen City and was composed in 2022.
Shiranui refers to a mysterious phenomenon in which countless lights appear over the sea at night, particularly in the Ariake Sea and Yatsushiro Sea in Kyushu. It is also known in Kyushu folklore as a type of supernatural fire — an unexplained apparition considered to be a kind of yokai (spiritual entity).
Nagasaki is home to truly beautiful seas and scenery. While composing, I imagined the mysterious lights drifting upon the water — reflecting both the beauty and the harshness of nature.
In its original instrumentation, I aimed to create a lively musical dialogue and clear roles between the woodwinds and brass, giving the music a sense of motion and vivid character.
This is a newly revised and restructured edition for wind band, featuring expanded instrumentation as well as additional measures and musical elements.
